It’s Friday the 13th. However, it’s the 13th of May — in New England’s Spring — so it’s probably okay.
Indeed, not only am I not wincing, I’m enjoying! Actually, I’m mostly just planning to enjoy.. I’m still working on that first cup of coffee, thus, there’s just been a lot of blinking so far. Blinking is underrated.
Even now, though, I’m enjoying the green of my peripheral vision! Was it really all bare and barren just a couple of weeks ago?? It’s. So. Beautiful.
I decided to take the day off from trying to cover all the bases. You ladies know how it is: the newly 12-year-old’s 2nd and peered birthday party is nearly here, and you think (somehow) that you should clean before the party. You daft thing!
And sure, it’s the only weekend day with thunderstorms and rain forecast, and thus, there must be a Plan B for the adolescent gathering, because the triple Slip’n’Slide, basketball hoop, soccer net, and badminton set could be less than stellar in NE’s birthday-weather. There is no Plan B. Hopefully, all the boys will just bring their phones. (Did I say that aloud?)
If it doesn’t rain, there’s still junk to re/move in one side yard, not to even mention a pile of odds and bits of kindling that someone dumped onto the ground moments before it snowed. I’ve picked it up a dozen times in my mind.
Apparently, that will have to be good enough, because I’m just done with the bases. Since we’ll go from 55 degrees to 85 in one day, I hauled up from the cellar and cleaned all the window and other fans, I’ve gotten boxes and beddings and baby toys and food shoppings and Amazon-orderings ready for the 3-week visit of 3 others — and readied even for Saturday’s Papa-sleepover so he can see the 12-yr old’s soccer game Sat. and then hang out until the party on Sunday.
I need but don’t have a mom or even a rickety ol’ grandma, so I’m just going to pick out my clothes for the next three days or so and do some vacuuming. There are some kitchen spills that got covered over in driveway dirt (regularly every few minutes) that I may spritz and mop, but for now, there’s more coffee in the pot.
Have a great weekend! Don’t try to cover all the bases; it’ll work out okay. These things always do. 🙂
Now, if you could just send the above paragraph back to me, that’d be great!

I need that paragraph, too. Don’t try to cover all the bases; it might drive you crazy. Things will work out sooner or later. In the meantime, trust the timing and enjoy!
